Matt is the Co-Owner and General Manager of The Stretch Effect. Originally from Dunn, NC, Matt has called Charleston home for 5 years. His passion for stretching dates back to college where he played baseball for the University of South Carolina - Aiken. After college, Matt's sports career would continue as he would go on to play multiple seasons in Professional Arena Football. During his time in sports, Matt realized the importance of stretching and taking care of his body. He credits stretching for never sustaining a major injury during his playing days. He has a deep passion for helping clients reach their maximum potential and reaching all of their goals. Matt is a certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise and also holds his Flexibility Specialist certification through the International Fitness Professionals Association. In addition to this, Matt has over 5 years of experience in the Health, Wellness, and Fitness field. Matt's goal is to apply his knowledge to the best of his ability to change someones life. That change of life is what keeps Matt motivated each and everyday!
Nick is the Co-Owner and Lead Stretch Specialist at The Stretch Effect. Nick earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Coastal Carolina University. He is certified as an Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and as a Stretching and Flexibility Coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has also held a Flexibility Specialist certification through the International Fitness Professionals Association. He was born near Canton, OH, and raised in Charleston, SC. Nick grew up loving and playing many sports! Back in his glory days, Nick was a county winning, all-region, state qualifying sprinter. As a football player, he was fortunate enough to be selected to play in the North South all-star football game his senior year. He had a short stint playing football in college as well. He has gained work and practical experience in both cardiac rehabilitation and physical therapy settings. He recognized early on in his wellness career how often stretching is overlooked and because of that, he has made it a point to spread as much stretching education and awareness as he can! Nick has gathered years of hands-on aided stretching experience and has enjoyed every second of it.
Kalyn was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina! Kalyn earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the College of Charleston. She grew up playing golf and volleyball, and still loves to golf to this day! She is also an indoor cycling instructor for a local studio! She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, as well as holds a specialization in both Corrective Exercise and Stretch & Flexibility through NASM! She gained love for both the corrective and rehabilitative aspect of exercise through her work experience in physical therapy. Kalyn loves to immerse herself in this interdisciplinary field to help people optimize their overall functioning and wellbeing! Kalyn learned early on in her fitness career that you do not need talent to move or better yourself, but rather discipline and consistency! She loves to continue to expand her knowledge so that she may continue to help individuals progress and rediscover their own capabilities. She is excited to be on staff with The Stretch Effect!
Jamie was born and raised right here in Charleston, South Carolina! Jamie is a former collegiate baseball player and had a short stint as a professional. After sustaining a major injury, he refocused and committed to a life of health and wellness. Now a NASM certified personal trainer with many years of experience in the fitness field, he has expanded his knowledge and now holds a certification as a Flexibility Specialist through the International fitness Professional Association. Jamie loves seeing the progression that comes with people reaching new goals and making life changing alterations not only physically but mentally through improving overall health. He is beyond excited to be with our staff here at The Stretch Effect!
